The former UFC Featherweight king Jose Aldo even entered the promotion as a champion. The initial part of his career showcased his superb in-octagon skills, with his damaging leg kicks being one of its key features. But, a lot would agree that ‘Junior’ didn’t quite have the kind of ending to his UFC career that he would have liked. During the later years of his tenure, the Brazilian picked up quite a few losses, notably his title loss to the UFC star, Conor McGregor. It somewhere compromised the ‘almost unbeatable’ factor which people saw in his initial fights.

Understandably, his departure from UFC hinted that he would probably opt to box next. The speculations of a lot of fans finally turned true recently, when Aldo made his pro boxing debut. Moreover, he also managed to get the better of his opponent, which created massive headlines in the MMA world.

It was my father who directed me towards combat sports and it wasn’t until the late 2010s that I discovered the world of MMA and the UFC. Like many of you, I too, tuned in for the infamous Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor bout live on October 6, 2018. Being an ardent fan of the UFC (and Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier), I was always looking to have conversations about the same with others. But to my disappointment, I hardly found any followers of the sports to interact with. So I took it upon myself to do my part in popularizing the thrill and the agony behind the purest form of unarmed combat. At EssentiallySports, I try to bring the readers closer to the athletes and focus my coverage on exploring the human side of these martial artists.
