Josh Thomson feels Jake Paul holds an edge over Nate Diaz

During the latest episode of ‘Weighing In’, renowned MMA fighter Josh Thomson and veteran referee John McCarthy found themselves discussing the much-talked-about matchup between Jake Paul and Nate Diaz. The 45-year-old Thomson didn’t hold back, sharing his belief that Diaz will have his hands full against the younger and faster 26-year-old YouTuber-turned-boxer.

Thomson voiced his desire for Diaz to win but also acknowledged that the Stockton native would have a tough task ahead of him. “No matter how I feel, I really would like Nate[Diaz] to win. But no matter how I feel, it’s a very tough task for him, a very [tough task].”

The retired fighter went on to explain his reasoning, “People need to remember that Jake Paul is a very big guy. Nate is tall, not a very strong guy. He’s not muscular, he’s never really beaten a super strong guy. He has body style [that] doesn’t really have that muscle tone, he’s not built like Tommy Fury, you know and everything… It’s a fight that kind of- Jake is the younger fighter… Younger by a lot, he’s faster by a lot, he will have more punching power. Tyron Woodley found that out. Those three things make for a very dynamic, explosive boxer.”
