Tyron Woodley is inarguably one of the most well-known fighters in the entire UFC. ‘The Chosen One’ is one of the most dedicated fighters to have graced the octagon. Woodley is also a former Welterweight Champion of the UFC and has defended his title 4 times. He also squared off inside the boxing ring, in August 2021, but he lost the two bouts to the well-known YouTuber-boxer, Jake Paul, via judge’s decision and then by knockout, respectively. Woodley was invited to Paul’s YouTube video series, BS w/ Jake Paul.

Paul asked Woodley to reveal the top 5 pound-for-pound MMA fighters of his choice. Woodley included legends like Jon Jones, and Demetrious Johnson in his list. But, left out the retired, 29-0 record holder, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

Why did Tyron Woodley exclude Nurmagomedov from his top 5 MMA fighters?

Jake paul started the discussion by mentioning, “I wanna hear your MMA top 5 pound-for-pound, if you could create a list, ever.”

Tyron Woodley revealed his list by saying, “I think Jon Jones is the best fighter we’ve seen.” Woodley added, I think Anderson Silva is a GOAT because he did it in a really respectful way.”

For his third choice, Woodley considered Demetrious Johnson and credited him to be the most well-rounded fighter ever seen by him. He further includedGeorges St-Pierre’ in his list. Woodley elected ‘Carlos Condit’ as the final fighter on his list. He also mentioned that ‘Condit’ was his favorite fighter to watch.

Jake Paul counted the entries on Woodley’s list and asked, “Would you put Khabib on the list?” T-Wood replied, “On my top 10 list, probably not.”

Woodley further iterated, “But I f**k with Khabib, I respect him a lot. I think he’s a good fighter.”

Moreover, breaking down the reasons, Woodley said, “But, I don’t see the wrestlers with good hands fight him.” Hence, he stated, “So I can’t really jump on a train for him as a pound for pound.”

Woodley concluded by saying, “I like guys for what they stand for, how they fight, how consistent they are, and what they did for the sport.”

How Jake Paul reacted to Woodley’s remarks?

“The Problem Child” didn’t shied away from speaking his mind about the list. He commented, “It’s a good list though.” Paul also added the name of two more fighters, Chuck Liddel, and Randy Couture. He felt that these two definitely make the cut in Woodley’s list. To which, ‘The Chosen One’ seemed to have agreed with Paul.
