The odds were already in favor of the reigning champion before the fight, even though Jaime Munguia entered the matchup with a 43-fight unbeaten run. Nevertheless, the 27-year-old did not go down without a proper battle against Canelo Álvarez and even steered the fight during the early rounds. However, Alvarez endured that to totally outperform the younger boxer.
