After constantly circulating rumors, a fight between Khamzat Chimaev and Nate Diaz seems to be happening. This bout will take place on a PPV card (UFC 279) and will be the last fight of Diaz’s UFC contract. While fans have been excited about this contest since the rumors first began, many fighters expressed their feelings too.

The fight was first announced via MMA journalist Brett Okamoto. He shared an image of Chimaev and Diaz, and wrote, “Khamzat vs. Nate. UFC 279 on Sept. 10 at T-Mobile Arena. Main event. Five rounds. Verbally agreed, per UFC Chief Business Officer Hunter Campbell. It is the final fight on Nate Diaz’s current UFC contract.”
Okamoto further shared the thoughts of both fighters through their representatives.

He added, “Chimaev, through his representative Majdi Shammas: “I am going to handle Nate Diaz’s funeral with the UFC.”
“Zach Rosenfield, representative for Nate Diaz: “This is a fight Nate has been asking for since the middle of April,” concluded Okamoto in his post.
Since its announcement, fans have been buzzing about this fight between Chimaev and Diaz. Many prominent mixed martial artists reacted to the same on Twitter and one even offered to be a replacement.

The bout between Khamzat Chimaev and Nate Diaz has been long spoken about. Both fighters traded words with each other on social media, but the fight was never booked. Now that this match-up has been verbally agreed upon, Twitter has been buzzing.

Gilbert Burns had an interesting comment to make. The 170-pound fighter, who was involved in a battle with Chimaev at UFC 272, offered to start camp in case one of the two fighters pulled out.

Jake Paul, who was rumored to fight Diaz, shared his thoughts as well. The undefeated boxer labeled Chimaev as ‘fake Khabib‘ and placed his bet on Diaz to win the bout.
