One of the most financially successful combat sports athletes of all time, Conor McGregor knows a thing or two about money management in the fighting game. Therefore, he gave out some free advice on social media in light of some recent developments in the boxing scene. The upcoming bout between boxers Ryan Garcia and Gervonta Davis has the fans on edge. After being at each other’s throats for a long time, the undefeated boxers will finally settle their differences in the squared circle. The lightweight showdown will go down on April 22 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

As if the stakes were not high enough already, Garcia and Davis recently decided to put their purses on the line. The undefeated three-division champion Davis appeared alongside popular streamer Kai Cenat for an Instagram live session with his opponent.

As the war of words escalated between the pair, Cenat, who was taking Davis’ side, proposed that Garcia should put his fight purse on the line. ‘King’ Ryan and ‘Tank’ both welcomed the idea and now the fans are on the edges of their seats.

However, do not consider Conor McGregor impressed with these shenanigans. Because of his $100 million dance against Floyd Mayweather, the Irishman had strong sentiments against fighters betting their purses.

In a recent tweet, McGregor addressed the practice of fighters betting their purses ahead of their fights. The former two-weight UFC world champion did not approve of the practice and listed out more than a few reasons.

‘The Notorious’ wrote, “Has any competing fighters bet their purse against each other and then followed thru? We should stop doing this. Fighting is tough. It can go anyway. Luck plays a hell of a part.”

He continued, “Don’t be saying you are betting your fight purse against each other. Because it never happens. And it’s stupid. Train hard. Fight hard. Earn your dough. And then enjoy it. God bless.”

In a follow-up tweet, ‘Mystic Mac’ claimed, “I’m keeping my hard earned money for my loved ones.” 

Conor McGregor has been tremendously successful in multiplying his earnings. The 34-year-old made big bucks from his UFC career and the Mayweather bout. He is now the owner of several successful business enterprises as well. Therefore, do you think the young guns should pay heed to his advice and be responsible with their paychecks?
