When the boxing match neared the end of the sixth round (eight rounds in total), the referee decided to call for a stoppage due to Gotti’s excessive jaw-jacking. This infuriated the 30-year-old who disregarded the referee’s decision and went on to throw some punches at the 50-o boxing icon, Floyd Mayweather after the bell had rung. Gotti had already sent a warning to ‘Money’ weeks before their fight.

Moreover, Gotti’s actions after the bell led to a massive altercation between both camps, as everybody stormed inside the squared circle. The exhibition fight came to an abrupt end as referee Kenny Bayless called off the main event of the evening. The officials at the event had a hard time controlling the situation as members of both camps refused to clear the ring. This incident prompted reactions from many professional fighters and fans all over social media.

UFC pros and fans react to the massive tussle at Mayweather’s fight

Light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill shared his thoughts about the incident, believing that things got very serious at ‘Money’s boxing match.

Welterweight fighter, Michael Chiesa was shocked to see what went down and expressed his concern for the well-being of the people in the arena. Such a riot can leave the spectators in danger.

One fan reacted to Chiesa’s tweet and claimed that the scuffle was worse than the one that took place during Khabib Nurmagomedov‘s fight with Conor McGregor. After all, Nurmagomedov’s brawl with Dillon Danis after defeating McGregor is a classic example of things going wrong in combat sports.

Interestingly, when the match was stopped, it looked like Mayweather expected such a reaction from Gotti. He not only was alert after the stoppage but also actively defended himself from his opponent.

The bout was highly anticipated, with Mayweather and Gotti going back and forth for weeks, but the way it ended left spectators with lots of questions. The news of the big altercation took over several social media platforms, including Instagram, where clips of it were shared.
