As the saying goes, behind every man there is a successful woman, and it is the same for Aljamain Sterling as well. The UFC bantamweight champion has come a long way in his professional career. After UFC 288, ‘Funkmaster’ should feel at the top of the world, and rightfully so. He took out one of the most decorated combat sports athletes of all time when he beat Henry Cejudo. With the win at UFC 288, Sterling is in the conversation to be an all-time great UFC bantamweight.

As he continues to celebrate his monumental victory over Cejudo, Sterling took a moment to appreciate his ladylove. In a recent social media post, the 33-year-old expressed his love and gratitude for his girlfriend Rebecca Cruz, with a short but sweet message.

Aljamain Sterling sends a loving message to his girlfriend

‘Funkmaster’ took to Twitter to profess his love for his girlfriend. He wrote, “From my pro debut to being champion of the world, you’ve been by my side. What a journey it’s been together with all the highs and the lows that we’ve gone through. You are truly a special woman and you keep me grounded and motivated. Te amo.”

Cruz and Sterling have been in a relationship for well over a decade now. She is a US-based fitness and beauty specialist who operates the cosmetic business house NYX Professional Makeup.

Sterling and Cruz got engaged in January 2021, on their 10th anniversary. However, the pair are yet to exchange their vows. But that does not stop Sterling from picking a fight with someone who will try to hit on his girlfriend, even if that someone is Floyd Mayweather.

When Sterling picked a fight with Floyd Mayweather over Cruz

Aljamain Sterling was once ready to throw hands with Floyd Mayweather after he thought the boxing legend was trying to steal his girlfriend. He once explained the incident in a podcast episode. It happened in 2016, in Vegas, when Mayweather invited ‘Aljo’ and his girlfriend to come over.

All of them were staying at The Palms resort. He stated, “I think he sent over a guy first. And told us we can both come down. Man, I ain’t stupid like that. When we come over there, you guys gonna try to take her and push me back.”

He continued, “Then he brought a girl with him. I said I know how the scene is. Floyd is undefeated in boxing; I am undefeated in MMA. If you want to figure out what’s the better sport, you could find out today.”

What do you think of these words from Sterling? Do you think he could take Mayweather in a fight outside the ring? And what are your thoughts on his message to his girlfriend?
