Francis Ngannou has been released from the UFC. The promotion president, Dana White, released the fighter during the UFC Vegas 67 post-fight press conference. The former heavyweight champion was stripped of his title due to his long dormancy and other issues with White. Although he teased fighting against Jon Jones quite a few times, he has now seemingly targeted Tyson Fury.

However, many thought that Ngannou going against Fury would be a great match, too. Nonetheless, almost every fan believed that the fighter could do really well at Bellator. Dana White set Francis Ngannou free

In an interview with Okamoto, White spoke about the real reason why he let the Cameroonian go. Although the UFC president believed that Ngannou should complete his legacy, he was indeed forced to move forward and release him. “I think that we’re heading in the right direction with Francis. There’s no doubt about it that this is where Francis should be and Francis should, you know, finish his legacy here at the UFC. And I think we’re pretty close to getting it done,” said White.

Furthermore, White stated that the heavyweight fighter was now free to do whatever he wanted to. He said, “You can move on and do your thing.” Thereby, setting the former champion free from the bounds of the UFC.
