With UFC 297 PPVs starting the year off with a bang for the UFC, fans are even more eager for the UFC PPVs that are coming their way in the future. However, most fans can’t help but anticipate the historic event, UFC 300. Dana White promised the fight fans that UFC 300 will be more stacked than any other fight cards in history. The head honcho has held true to that promise.

Fights like Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway, Charles Oliveira vs Arman Tsarukyan, and many more, have kept fans itching to know the main event of the card. Dana White and the UFC have taken their sweet time in announcing their events. Though Conor McGregor himself announced that he would be fighting at UFC 302, UFC president Dana White denied McGregor’s statement as being true. UFC legend, Chael Sonnen, gave his take on the possible return of ‘The Notorious’.

In a recent YouTube video posted on Chael Sonnen’s channel, the UFC legend was on the call with MMA journalist Ariel Helwani, figuring out who would headline the UFC 300 card and what would be next for McGregor. To start the conversation, Sonnen evaluated the matchup between Holloway and Gaethje. He stated, “If Max and Justin had heat in the past, it would be one thing. If Justin’s putting his number one contendership on the line, which he should have to do, but none of these things were discussed.”

Despite the fight being as interesting as it can get, the UFC legend feels that the matchup is a “miss.” The reason, as he states, is “it’s a huge miss by the way, because you got Conor and Chandler on top of a bill for international fight weekend. You got international fight week and you’re telling me you can’t bring a world title fight. Like that’s a massive part.”

He then stated that he wished to see a fight for a world title headline the international fight week, and not that of McGregor and Chandler. He told Helwani, “If I was a media source, I wouldn’t be you know, swinging on the nuts of that fight. Finally, I’d be saying, man, you got seven months and you better bring me a world title fight.”

The UFC legend seems to be in a conflict with himself at the moment. Just like any other fan, he wishes to see McGregor and Chandler square off inside the octagon as soon as possible. However, as a fighter who fought in the UFC, fails to bring himself to accept that a non-title fight could headline a UFC card with title fights being in the undercard, and rightfully so.

Dana White reveals plans surrounding McGregor’s return

Dana White, during UFC 297 fight week, revealed that Conor McGregor would return this year. However, contrary to McGregor’s New Year’s claim of making a comeback inside the octagon at UFC 302 against Chandler in the middleweight division, the UFC president denied those statements, asserting that they were not true.
