Former UFC champion Henry Cejudo had a fair bit to say about the current welterweight juggernaut, Khamzat Chimaev in a recent episode of the “Triple C & Schmo Show”.

Chimaev’s unorthodox charm, organized wrestling, and grappling skills are starting to rattle the welterweight division, one of the most exciting divisions in the UFC. Fighters and fans have a lot to say about the dominant Russian who is most likely just a couple of wins away from a title shot.

Being ranked 11th, having champions talk about your dominance is likely to boost one’s confidence. After all, hype makes fights, and who better to critique Khamzat than the former two-division champion of the world, Henry Cejudo?

‘Triple C’ talked about how he believes that Chimaev is the man that he believes might be able to stop Adesanya.

Just like Cejudo, Khamzat has all of us sold. Despite not fighting a top 10 ranked fighter yet, his flair and confidence seem to keep everyone on their toes.

His dominant performances in the octagon have us all wondering if he could dethrone either of the two of most dominant fighters in their respective divisions.

Welterweight or Middleweight?

Khamzat is currently fighting in the Welterweight division. So where did all the talk about him taking on a middleweight champ come from? Khamzat Chimaev has been hungry for a title shot and is ready to take on anyone at the moment from both divisions.

Given sources about him sparring middleweights, it is more than evident that Khamzat is comfortable giving middleweights a run for their money. His current situation in welterweight looks like a long path to being a champion.

Compared to the middleweight division, owing to its static nature with no one in middleweight posing a severe threat to Adesanya, Khamzat seems like an excellent pick for Adesanya.

However, although Khamzat’s been taking jabs at both champs from welterweight and middleweight, he is set to fight Gilbert Burns; the welterweight ranked number 2. Depending on his performance, he could be on the path to challenge the current P4P king, Kamaru Usman, for the welterweight title.
