‘I Would Have Stepped Up at 205 and Ran It Back with Thiago Santos’- Kevin Holland

Kevin Holland spoke to the media following his controversial No Contest result at UFC Fight Night: Santos vs Walker. The 2020 Fighter of the Year was caught with an accidental headbutt by Kyle Daukaus who proceed to swarm a near-unconscious opponent after the collision. While he secured a choke, the fight officials deliberated and ruled the bout as an NC.
‘The Trailblazer’ is already keen to run back the rematch with Kyle Daukaus and his competitive spirit is on full display. In turn, Daukaus too has shown an interest to rematch with Holland in the coming months. When talking about a possible rematch next, Kevin Holland revealed that he was in the zone to even step up to light heavyweight and rematch main eventer, Thiago Santos.

“I want to run it back [with Kyle Daukaus]. I want to run it back right now. I want to run it back with anyone that’s ever got the better advantage over me.”
“I mean, sh*t, if Johnny Walker would have got hurt tonight I would have stepped up at 205 and ran it back with Thiago. I’m that guy, you know what I mean.”
“If he wants to go somewhere else cause he felt like the headbutt was the best thing that ever could happened to him, me personally, I got respect for Kyle, I got respect for Chris…but the fight game is the fight game.”

Holland is one of the most game fighters on the roster and he’s always spoken about going back to avenge a victory. He fought ‘Marreta’ Santos back in 2018 at UFC 227 and despite the long gap, he wants to get one over Thiago Santos. When they first met, the Brazilian fighter secured the unanimous decision victory on the scorecards.

Looking at the way Kevin Holland approaches the fight game, it’s no wonder why he’s a fan favorite fighter. He’s always looking for ways to come out on top and moving up to face a marauder like Santos on short notice is a massive move.
