Conor McGregor and Tiger Woods share one thing in common, both suffered a career-ending injury; however, the golfer has made a comeback already while the UFC superstar is still healing.

McGregor, who draws inspiration from everywhere possible, took some from Tiger Woods after his successful return to the sport.

The former UFC Champ, took to Twitter to congratulate the golf legend and let him know that people were rooting for him.

McGregor in the tweet said, “Hats off to the Golf Goat @TigerWoods this weekend. Grit and hard work can combine for a comeback- the world is cheering for you. Congratulations, my friend.”

McGregor has spoken about Tiger Woods several times. He once compared himself to the golfer while he was going back n forth with a UFC lightweight, Rafael Fiziev. 

McGregor wrote, “No bother pal, sound. Think of me as tiger woods with a 12 iron and your nose as the golf ball,”

A major injury sidelined both, Conor McGregor and Tiger Woods

McGregor, like Woods, suffered a career-threatening injury when he broke his leg during his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier.

The injury was so severe that his return to the octagon was in question. However, McGregor has shown great signs of recovery and is planning to make a comeback the next year.

He has also released his sparring footage where it’s clear that he’s evolved his style and is introducing new facets to his fight style.

McGregor has also hinted at going up in division and fighting at 170lbs, although nothing is official until the UFC announces it.

The notorious has also been called out by the former lightweight champion, Charles Oliveira, as well as lightweight contender Michael Chandler.

With an array of fighters at the table for McGregor, it’ll be interesting to see who the Irishman chooses to fight when he returns, moreover, what weight division he chooses for himself. Let’s wait and see.
