UFC 278 will go down as one of the worst nights for Kamaru Usman. The Nigerian lost his belt to Leon Edwards with one of the most spectacular head kicks ever seen in the UFC.
The former champion, since the loss, has kept very positive, although he did open up about how he feels on the Joe Rogan Podcast.

The fighter told Rogan that it can be depressing to experience low moments when someone has been on the top for such a long time.

The Former Champ mentioned that he draws inspiration from athletes who have been on top of the game but went through moments of adversities throughout their careers.

Usman said, “I try to learn from the guys that have done it before and that’s one of the things, whether you win or lose, you’re going to go up and down. You’re gonna have to come down.”
He further added, “…and there are going to be moments when you feel the depression, kind of setting in a bit and obviously worse when you do lose. I recognize those and I’ve been… trying kind of branch off and learn different ways and get into different things to be able to do that.”

Usman revealed that he looks up to Basketball Legend, Michael Jordan and Golf ace, Tiger Woods; moreover, he said that he wished to speak to them and draw inspiration from their career.

The Nigerian Nightmare said, “I would love to have a conversation one day, hopefully being in the same setting of Michael Jordan, I would love to have a conversation with a guy like that. And the Tiger Woods and all these guys have a conversation with them about just what it is like for you guys.”
Records that ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ almost broke but couldn’t
Kamaru Usman was undefeated in the UFC before the Leon Edwards fight; moreover, he was on a burning 15-fight win streak.
The Nightmare was just a step away from matching the all-time record of Anderson Silva; however, fate didn’t have it for him. He was also inching close to GSP’s record of title defenses.

Usman has learned to laugh at his trolls and shown his appreciation to the ones supporting him. The wrestler was also very humble in his defeat and congratulated Edwards on the stunning win.

Considering Usman’s resume, there’s no doubt that he will get an immediate rematch; more so because of how the fight played out before the knockout happened.
