Jake Shields is a veteran in the sport of mixed martial arts. Fans have not seen the former UFC title challenger in the cage for a while now. However, Shields is active on social media and regularly interacts with fans. The former UFC superstar spoke about a “smart” move by a fan to ban his girlfriend from wearing a Stephen Curry jersey.

This exchange started on Twitter as Shields wrote, “I can’t believe there’s so many guys out there who will let their girl wear a sports jersey with another man’s name on it

A Twitter user replied to Shields, saying, “Say my girl is a huge steph curry fan before we met and I can’t let her wear his jersey?! S**t jake” 

Jake Shields was quick to notice this comment by the fan. He replied, “Smart because as a professional athlete when I saw a girl with my shirt I knew exactly what that meant

Shields is active on social media as he keeps updating his fans about his whereabouts. However, the former UFC title challenger has disappeared from competing in the cage.

Has former UFC title challenger Jake Shields retired from Mixed Martial Arts?

Jake Shields last fought in 2018 and his lengthy sabbatical has led many to believe he has closed the curtains on his career. However, the fighter himself has clarified his retirement. While he has been missing from MMA competition, Shields said that he has kept himself busy by competing in grappling competitions.
Shields did not seem too positive about returning to the cage. He said, “As far as fighting, I mean, I’m not saying I wouldn’t fight again, but it’s unlikely at this point. If I had some kind of offer for you know who was another guy who was a big name, who’s a little older.” 
Shields said that he isn’t looking to fight the up-and-coming fighters. He added, “I’d fight another guy who’s been around forever if an opportunity like that was there. Other than that, I’m not actively looking for fights.”

Whether he competes again or not, Jake Shields can be proud of his career. From competing against Georges St-Pierre in the UFC to winning titles in other promotions, Shields has achieved a lot.
