Is Dana White not a very political person? White has often been seen rubbing shoulders with the likes of Donald Trump during live UFC matches. However, the UFC head honcho maintains that he likes to keep a person separate from their political beliefs.

So how does this idea pour into the conversation between Michael Jordan and LeBron James? For Dana White, comparing two players is interesting, but there is very little he can say about their political beliefs. Why? Here’s what he believes.

Dana White won’t pick sides based on politics

Dana White seems to only care about athletes as athletes and not much about what their political beliefs are. On a recent episode of The Sage Steele Show, White compared the two great basketball players, LeBron James and Michael Jordan, believing that nobody could say anything bad about James.

“Michael Jordan and LeBron couldn’t be any more opposite that in in my opinion and I don’t judge anybody by their politics.” He said. “This is America whoever you are and whatever you believe in, knock yourself out but one thing about LeBron.

“LeBron is one of these guys that that became a massive Superstar overnight you never hear anything bad about LeBron. . . there isn’t too many things that you could say about LeBron that that are bad unless you just don’t agree with them politically which is ridiculous anyway to judge somebody on their politics.” 

Clearly, keeping the athletes separate from their beliefs is his policy. And this reflects in the way that he manages the UFC as well. White is an outspoken believer of free speech. He doesn’t hold his fighters back from voicing their thoughts nor does he intervene often if and when they face consequences for doing so. But he did face personal consequences for something he did in the past.

Dana White was once record hurting his wife outside of a club in Cabo, Mexico back in 2023. After the video went viral, White was all over the internet. And him and his wife quickly gave their statements and accepted that what happened, shouldn’t have.

But perhaps it was too late for his children. On the same podcast episode, Dana White later spoke about how his son Dana Jr. didn’t speak to them for days after the incident. He told Steele that children know exactly who their parents are because they live with them.
