Known for dropping beats and verses, Ice Cube recently decided to drop some heavy criticism on the biggest basketball league in the world. The renowned rapper has recently voiced his discontent with the NBA. Moreover, he expressed frustration over what he perceives as the league’s reluctance towards his own basketball venture, The Big 3.

The Big 3, launched by Ice Cube in 2017, offers a unique twist on traditional basketball by featuring 3-on-3 teams. Ice Cube envisioned his league as a complementary addition to the basketball landscape, rather than a competitor to the NBA. However, he claims that mainstream sports media and the NBA itself have largely ignored the efforts of The Big 3.

The 54-year-old appeared in a candid conversation on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast recently. From the very start of the podcast, the former NWA member did not shy away from taking shots at NBA.

Ice Cube rains down on NBA in conversation with Joe Rogan

The award-winning rapper started out by claiming that the mainstream media and sponsors have been ignoring his basketball ventures. “I been trying to push the league and mainstream sports media have been basically ignored what we have been doing. I think they are nervous with NBA, it would be damaged if they promote the Big 3.”

Further, Ice Cube also claimed that he, in no way intended his venture to be a direct competitor for NBA. Moreover, there are many former NBA players willingly joining his league. “What’s crazy is that we got their former hall of famers as part of this league. So it’s not like we hijacking them. We are not trying to compete in any way shape or form with the NBA.”

According to Joe Rogan’s recent guest, it’s not the players or the coaches in NBA that have a problem with his league. Rather, it’s the top management. “It’s not the players, it’s not the owners, it’s not the GMs and scouts. It’s not the culture, it’s just the suits, it’s the corporate people.”

In a tweet, Ice Cube shared a video clip of him criticizing the NBA on the Joe Rogan Podcast. Moreover, he captioned it, “The league the NBA loves to hate… Welcome to the ‘F**k The Gatekeepers Podcast Tour.’ First stop, @joerogan… guess who’s next?”
