Khabib Nurmagomedov reveals the reason behind his impatient nature in facing Conor McGregor

The Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor clash might be one of the most viewed fights in the UFC’s history. Both the fighters started hurling abuses before the match but things took a very different and dark turn when McGregor started targeting Nurmagomedov’s faith, family, and most importantly his father. Despite this, ‘eagle’ was calm and was waiting for the opportunity to strike.

In his most recent escapade, ‘The Eagle’ had an interview with the UFC. Upon being asked by the host about why he was so impatient to face McGregor, Numeagomedov said ” I remember fight night when I was supposed to fight with him. I was so excited, and I couldn’t wait. He further added ” It was very interesting what this guy would do with my pressure, with my wrestling, with my top control, with my spirit, with my conditioning. What is this guy going to do, I really want to feel his power, his speed, his accuracy, his timing. He was 30 years old, and I was 30 years old. It was our prime time. These kinds of things, I was very excited. Not only as my opponent or something, no. Like when I watch from a fan side, for me, it was very interesting.” It would not be wrong to state that both of these fighters were fierce rivals, however, very few people know that before their impending rivalry, Numragomedov and McGregor were good friends.

Nurmagomedov and McGregor’s friendship before their feud

In the era prior to McGregor’s transition into the lightweight realm in 2016, these two fighters shared a rather amicable rapport. During McGregor’s tenure as a featherweight combatant, Khabib harbored a sincere admiration for his Irish counterpart, a sentiment they articulated via Twitter. Their camaraderie culminated in a face-to-face rendezvous and took a photo together.
