Conor McGregor Gives Elon Musk, Worth $232.5 Billion, a Twitter Challenge After Acquisition Doubts

Conor McGregor on social media is a gift that keeps on giving. The UFC megastar doesn’t hesitate to share what he has on his mind with his fans. Recently, he took to Twitter to mock billionaire Elon Musk.

He tweeted out, “I’m buying Twitter.” taking jabs at Elon Musk, who bought Twitter for $44 billion. McGregor has now deleted this tweet. The former UFC double champion, ranked number one in the list of highest-paid athletes of 2021 and is one of the richest in all of combat sports history.

McGregor also responded to a fan’s reply to his tweet. The fan wrote, “You own Twitter already.” to which McGregor responded with, “Ok, fair enough. Will continue to use sporadically.”

This isn’t the first time the Irishman has expressed his interest in buying companies or clubs. McGregor recently tweeted out that he wanted to buy English football clubs – Manchester United Football Club and Chelsea Football Club.

Although he isn’t rich enough to buy Twitter just yet, Conor McGregor’s earnings last year saw him earn more per minute than the likes of famous football stars – Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Neymar.

But since then, he has fallen off the list because of inactivity after the third fight with rival Dustin Poirier, in which he suffered a horrific leg injury. McGregor was also rumored to make $130 million from his fight with boxing legend Floyd Mayweather back in 2017. This fight broke multiple pay-per-view (PPV) records and was arguably one of the biggest combat fights of all time.

McGregor now earns most of his money from the sales of his very own whiskey brand, ‘Proper Twelve.’ He also started his own media house called ‘The Mac Life’, which covers MMA, lifestyle, and fitness. According to Sportskeeda, his current net worth is around $200 million.
