On ESPN MMA podcast, Daniel Cormier & Ariel Helwani talked about ‘RDA’s fresh start at Lightweight, his future & next credible opponent.

DC‘ said, “Guys generally don’t stay on the card, especially a former champion like RDA, he took the fight. Ended up getting honestly in terms of ranking a bigger fight because Felder’s in the top-10, Islam’s like 12 over right now. What a fantastic fight! Look like himself, big, strong, kicks unbelievably hard, his wrestling was on point. He fought the fight he had to.

I believe RDA motivated at 155 is a problem for everybody! a real problem,” he added.

I almost forgot DC that this was his (RDA) return to to 155! Nothing was made of the fact that he’s coming back after a 3 year layoff to 155. I think even though he’s 36, RDA has a run left in at 155. If he can get the weight cuts figured out, I think he can be a solid player again,” stated Helwani.

What’s next for Rafael Dos Anjos?

Right after his win against Felder, RDA knocked former double champ Conor McGregor’s door for a bout. The Notorious one acknowledged his call out and assured him of a fight.

As of now, RDA is unranked in the Lightweight division, but DC & Helwani believe that a probable bout and win against Islam Makhachev could seal RDA’s spot in top 10 of the Lightweight rankings.

RDA switched from the Lightweight division after his loss to Tony Ferguson 3 years ago. Henceforth, after a much needed win against Felder, RDA would look to maximise on his return to the Lightweight with exciting matchups.
