”I feel like I always knew fighting was what I wanted to do. The end of this fighting lifestyle approaches very soon. Retirement fight needs to be the proper opponent and I’m checking out of this game,” he wrote.

‘Nightmare’ Sanchez has a 31-13 pro-MMA record. He connected with the UFC in 2002 and was on a 9 fight win-streak until 2006 in the promotion.

With age being a factor and his fight resume being dimmed past a long time now, UFC fans wish to see the American finally consider retirement.

Who should touch gloves with Diego Sanchez for one last time?

Sanchez last won in February 2020 to Michael Pereira. It was a Welterweight bout that got him disqualified after Pereira attempted an illegal knee on the ground, handing over a win to Sanchez. The veteran is currently unranked in the UFC Welterweight division and has never tasted the Welterweight gold in his entire UFC run.

Although he possesses some considerable skill sets, Sanchez has never fought for the Welterweight title in his run at this division.

Of late, the ‘Nightmare’ Sanchez has called out several big names: Donald Cerrone, Dan Hardy, Demian Maia, Conor McGregor, to name a few. In fact, the Notorious Conor McGregor showed his interest to fight the UFC veteran but Dana White believed McGregor fighting an unranked opponent in the main event won’t be a pleasing idea.

However, many believe Demian Maia is the fight to make for Diego Sanchez. Maia is the seventh-ranked UFC Welterweight and has 28 wins and 10 losses to his pro-MMA career.

The duo seem to be in the last stage of their extensive careers, and a farewell fight between them would provide the much-needed celebratory send-off.
