After facing a TKO loss to Uriah Hall at UFC Fight Night on November 1, UFC veteran Anderson Silva was released by the Dana White led promotion. ‘The Spider’, 45, has now become a free agent and is keen on continuing his prolonged MMA career. However, Silva has received no lucrative offers from MMA promotions around the world.

According to BJ Penn dotcom, the renowned MMA promotion PFL has backed out of signing the former UFC Middleweight champion.

PFL president, Ray Sefo, has stated that his organization has ‘no interest’ in signing the 45-year-old.

In an interview with Fight Sports, Ray Sefo quoted, “Listen, I mean that guy is such a legend in the sport but isn’t he around 46? The guy is such an amazing talent. I think he has been a great champion. He’s definitely gonna go down in history as one of the best to ever do it. Nothing but a lot of respect but I just think it’s that time to hang it up. Watching his last fight, he also fought a former teammate of mine, and Uriah Hall was able to finish that fight.”

“Anderson Silva is a legend and he’s gonna go down in history as one of the best to do it, so I’d like to remember him as that guy,” he added.

Sefo believes it’s time for the ‘Spider’ to hang his gloves and enjoy retirement. He feels the UFC veteran has achieved enough and will possess a strong resume for the rest of his life.

Should Anderson Silva Hang His Gloves?

It seems like there are no more doors left to open for Silva. Even the Bellator MMA President, Scott Coker, is apathetic about signing the UFC veteran.

PFL and Bellator have both pulled out of getting the ‘Spider’ into their promotion. Most of them feel that the former Middleweight Champion is past his prime now.

Anderson Silva led the UFC Middleweight division from 2006 to 2013. In his tenure as a champion, he has beaten the likes of Chael Sonnen, Dan Henderson, Vitor Belfort, and more. However, the champion has won just 1 fight in his last 7 bouts taking his pro-MMA tally to 34 wins, 11 losses, and 1 no contest.

All the prime MMA promotions seem to be out of the running for the former champion. He still has One Championship and RIZIN’s door left to be tapped.
