The UFC women’s bantamweight title has been vacant for the past six months following the retirement of Amanda Nunes earlier this year. Widely regarded as the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time, Nunes vacated the title shortly after her successful title defense against Irene Aldana at UFC 289, and the title has been in limbo ever since.
However, this vacancy will come to an end at UFC 297, slated for January 20 in Toronto, Canada, which will see Raquel Pennington and Mayra Bueno Silva fight to become the new women’s bantamweight champion. But this matchup has not pleased fans. And not just the fans; title contender Julianna Pena too felt the need to share her dissatisfaction.
