The former two-weight champion of UFC Conor McGregor once put forth an insane demand from the UFC that will surely put Francis Ngannou’s and many other UFC fighters’ pay-day negotiations to shame.

The Irishman Conor McGregor is one of the biggest draws of the UFC. In 2017, McGregor was at the peak of his career. He became the champion of two (featherweight and lightweight) divisions.
And in the same year, McGregor was about to make the biggest crossover in the combat world by fighting Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match. With his excellence in the sport, McGregor became a global star and was a point of attention for a lot of media houses.

It was then that the Irishman did an exclusive interview with GQ magazine. During the conversation, when asked about what he wants from the UFC that he doesn’t have right now.

McGregor responded with an outrageous demand. He said, “Mmm… yeah. Four point two billion dollars. I want to negotiate what I’m worth. I want to put my analytics forward, man-to-man, and be like, ‘This is what I’m owed now. Pay me.’ And then we can talk.”
It was outrageous back then, as McGregor was already the highest-paid athlete in the promotion. Also, the UFC was sold by Zuffa LLC to WME-IMG for $4 billion the next year.
Conor McGregor: In the UFC
Conor McGregor’s rise in the UFC has been one of the best in the sport’s history. Unfortunately, he suffered a downfall at the same pace. The former champion is currently on a two-fight skid and has won only one fight since 2016.
McGregor even suffered a career-ending injury in his last fight in 2021. However, with his powerful will and never give up attitude, the Irishman made a fast recovery. He is even back to training now.

The pay-per-view star of the promotion is eyeing a comeback soon and has his eyes set on the bigger price. McGregor, who once reigned two divisions of UFC, wants to make history again by ruling yet another weight category.
‘The Notorious’ is eyeing a title fight with the number one pound-for-pound fighter and welterweight champion Kamaru Usman. Given his star status, the UFC is most likely to give him what he wants on his return.
