Conor McGregor faces Dustin Poirier this weekend as he returns to the Octagon after a year-long layoff. The two men have fought before at UFC 178, in 2014, under hostile circumstances. But much has changed since, and they have collaborated this term to do some social work for Poirier’s good fight foundation charity.

‘The Notorious’ had previously promised to donate half a million dollars ahead of the fight to Poirier’s organization. Now, he has kept his word and donated 500000 USD in an incredible gesture.

At the UFC 257 pre-fight press conference ‘The Diamond’ said, “I don’t want to make it seem like we’re up here giving each other back massages but Conor, I just want to clear the air: Conor’s team, McGregor Sport & Entertainment, did reach out to my foundation and they are starting the process toward that donation.”

Poirier has been running his charity for a considerable amount of time now. He auctions his fight gears and other assets to raise money for his foundation. Further, he is planning on building a gym with the sum to help unprivileged youths train combat sports.

‘The Diamond’ has helped to fix ruined water supply at an orphanage and school in Uganda before. Building playgrounds and supplying backpacks for children in need are other notable works of Poirier’s foundation.
