The noted UFC Middleweight contender, Robert Whittaker takes his national emblem quite seriously. The 32-year-old Australian has also dawned his national flag with pride multiple times in his octagon appearances. After responding to UFC star, Khamzat Chimaev’s, call out, Alexander Volkanovski’s compatriot recently appeared on a UFC talk show where he got into a brief verbal altercation with former UFC Middleweight and now-analyst, Michael Bisping.

Whittaker was absolutely disgusted by how some fighters and fans were talking about fighting a kangaroo. Even the anchors of the show presented the same question to him. Although ‘The Reaper’ didn’t provide a direct answer, he made sure to express his disgust at this topic.

Robert Whittaker loved kangaroos and bashed the ones asking him to fight one

Popular Instagram cage ‘Full Violence’ shared the video of ‘The Reaper’ talking about kangaroos. It garnered a massive response with over 10k reactions, along with several comments. The caption from ‘Full Violence’ read, “What an interesting conversation”.

Whittaker started off by expressing his disgust towards the entire ‘kangaroo vs human’ thing going on. He stated, “I’m really upset. The idea of you guys presenting these questions punching on our with our national icon and my favourite animal in the world. It is borderline sacrilege”.

The anchor still presented the question, With that said, Rob, would you beat one up?”

Whittaker talked about how this situation was hard to arrive, Let us assume that the Kangaroo is bloodlusted. Right? Because, what you’re gonna do, is like, ‘Hey, here’s some food, and then bang. Hit him’. No, that’s dog. You don’t want to dog-shot a kangaroo.” He also talked about how fearless the kangaroos actually were, stating that they looked you right in the eye if they feel threatened.

He also opinionated that the kicks from the “talon”-armed feet of a kangaroo were enough to gut anyone out.

Whittaker provided an indirectly befitting reply to Michael Bisping’s negativity

The former UFC middleweight king, Michael Bisping, also entered the conversation, but not in the manner Whittaker would have liked. Bisping was evidently of the opinion that he probably would have handled a Kangaroo. He also mentioned how kangaroos didn’t have teeth.

But, he changed his tone to a debatably insulting one as he mentioned, “There’s more kangaroos than people in Australia. They’re vermins, they’re pests, go shoot them, just blow their brains out for fun. You’re[Whittaker] talking like you revere them. They taste good though”.

“A bloodlusted kangaroo does everyone of those fighters,” replied Whittaker.

The true feeling of Whittaker’s affinity towards his country and its emblem is evident in the video. But what do you think of a human-kangaroo fight? Who would emerge victorious? Also, would Bisping be able to get the better of a Kangaroo if he’s put before one?

The coveted scrap between Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson in 2002 was when I realized the passion for combat sports within my family. My interest in combat sports began watching scripted pro wrestling shows. It was my father who directed me towards combat sports and it wasn’t until the late 2010s that I discovered the world of MMA and the UFC. Like many of you, I too, tuned in for the infamous Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor bout live on October 6, 2018. Being an ardent fan of the UFC (and Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier), I was always looking to have conversations about the same with others. But to my disappointment, I hardly found any followers of the sports to interact with. So I took it upon myself to do my part in popularizing the thrill and the agony behind the purest form of unarmed combat. At EssentiallySports, I try to bring the readers closer to the athletes and focus my coverage on exploring the human side of these martial artists. I’m a musician during my time free from reporting MMA. I operate as the lead vocalist of a rock band that aims to make their mark among the audiences with their original alternative-hard rock songs.
