Former light heavyweight champion Jamahal Hill is gearing up to face #11 ranked light heavyweight Carlos Ulberg at UFC 303 on June 29. Which has many fans concerned. Not only is the Kiwi a knockout artist (with a 70% KO rate) like ‘Sweet Dreams’ himself, but Hill is coming off of a tough TKO loss to Alex Pereira at their UFC 300 lightweight title clash in April.

Compounding fans’ worry for Hill’s well-being owing to the quick turnaround time between his knockout loss and his next fight, which is not even three months. But, the former champ is determined to move on from the loss and get back to winning ways after he lost to the champ. Especially because he thinks Pereira won because of shady tactics.

‘Sweet Dreams’ has maintained that ‘Poatan’ took (in his opinion) unfair advantage of a confusing moment to close the distance and knock him out. And the former champ has been going hard at Pereira, calling him out over it, since their fateful bout. The latest iteration of this came as Hill posted a picture of Pereira lying knocked out on the ground after his infamous loss to Israel Adesanya at UFC 287 with a pretty acerbic caption, promising to do the same to him ‘soon.’

“Funny only one of us had been knocked unconscious needing oxygen and multiple people’s help to wake with your toes curled!!! Don’t worry I’ll remind you of that feeling again very soon!!!” Hill wrote on his Instagram Story.

If there is one thing that is almost universally disliked by combat sports fans, it is fighters trying to make excuses to justify losses. Most fans think that Sweet Dreams’s protestations are nothing but excuses, even though the former champ genuinely thinks Pereira used underhanded tactics in their fight. This fan sentiment was apparent in a Twitter post, which showed a screenshot of Hill’s Instagram Story.

Fans excoriate Jamahal Hill for another dig at Alex Pereira

One fan felt that “He’s a little concussed” from the Pereira knockout. Another agreed and simply wrote, “Dude is unwell.” Another fan felt that Hill was being excessively bitter “Never seen a saltier man in my life.” One fan predicted a loss against Ulberg and was looking forward to Hill being knocked out again: “Gonna be so funny when he loses to Ulberg 💀”

Another felt that this was an attempt by Hill to try and create buzz for a rematch with the champion, and suggested other fans should just ignore ‘Sweet Dreams’: “He’s just desperately trying to build hype for a possible rematch. Let us just ignore him and let him drown in his own tears.”

Another felt that the former champ was wasting valuable time and mind space by whining about the loss when he should be totally focused on preparing for Ulberg: “It’s funny how Hill’s bragging a KO he didn’t even do himself and still crying on social media instead of focusing on his fight with Carlos Ulberg in 2 weeks.”

One fan, who had apparently taken a liking to Hill recently declared that this post had changed his mind. “Just when you start to like Hill he finds a way to change your mind.” What is your opinion on Pereira’s salvo against Pereira?
