Phil Hawes was slated to clash against Deron Winn in Las Vegas this weekend. However, the latter pulled out of the fight because of health issues right before the weigh-ins. This left Hawes without a partner to dance with. Meanwhile, Chris Curtis, with a 26-8 MMA record, offered to fight Hawes for his UFC debut on extremely short notice. However, Hawes stepped back from fighting as he was preparing to fight Winn, per Bret Okamoto of ESPN.

As both the fighters, Hawes and Winn, pulled out from the fight, the event lost one bout from its fight card. However, another massive change struck the UFC event and Okamoto reported the scenario. He wrote, “This is wild. Phil Hawes vs. Deron Winn falls off last minute. UFC finds a very late replacement in Chris Curtis to face Hawes. Curtis weighs in.”

“Hawes declines the opponent change. And JAMES KRAUSE, who is at the Apex to coach Tim Elliott, offers to step on the scale and fight Curtis tomorrow!! Unclear, if it will happen/commission will allow it, but James has accepted the fight. His quote via text: “I’m always game to make some money. Sh** ain’t sh**.”

After Hawes declined the fight, Tim Elliott’s coach James Krause offered to step in for a clash against Curtis. Unfortunately, the promotion couldn’t meet the terms and the fight got canceled. However, the rest of the fighters from the fight card have made their contractual weight, and here are the results.
