“Absolute Worst”: Joe Rogan Changes Tune on Cody Garbrandt on Live Broadcast at UFC 285; Fans Agree

UFC 285 undeniably had cards that kept the world on the tips of excitement. Although the fans were primarily focused on Jon Jones making his debut in the heavyweight division against Ciryl Gane, UFC 285 has kept the fans jumping with high adrenaline through the prelim fights. The American-born former UFC bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt (12-5) returned to try to break his two-loss streak against the Guam fighter, Trevin Jones (13-10) and concluded the UFC 285 prelims at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

Without a doubt, the fight was one that could keep up with the hype of Jones’ return. Although the fight went through troughs and crests, ‘No Love’ kept the adrenaline levels high with his takedowns. However, the fight garnered boos for the little action and more footwork. Doubtlessly, the mixed martial arts fans took to social media and shared what they felt about the fight.

UFC world opens up to Garbrandt vs. Jones at UFC 285

The fight began with Jones in a southpaw stance, throwing punches and kicks. However, ‘No Love’ replied with a couple of strikes. Joe Rogan was undeniably impressed with the level of kickboxing Garbrandt showcased. Surprisingly, the round ended with ‘No Love’ entertaining the fans with a shuffle. 

As soon as the second round began, Garbrandt took down Jones and impressed the fans even further. After running around a bit more, Garbrandt successfully performed another takedown and took the fight to the ground. Immediately, Garbrandt took control Jones’ back. However, Jones escaped, and the two grappled beside the fence before the end of the round. Nevertheless, the running around acquired only boos from the crowd.

The final round seemingly began with a similar energy with the fighters showing off their footwork. Garbrandt dominated the arena and apparently impressed the UFC color commentator. Rogan believed that the fighter looked like a world champion. “Cody Garbrandt tonight looks like a real-world champion… One of the best versions of Cody Garbrandt’s.”

However, the UFC commentator was still not convinced as he said, “This doesn’t give you the confidence to set him up with a real contender.”

Fans reacted to the fight on Twitter.

However, there were many who appreciated Garbrandt’s performance. Like Rogan, many were happy to see the fighter win.

Fans and professionals had a lot to say about Garbrandt’s fight against Jones. Although Rogan was initially impressed with Garbrandt, he quickly changed his opinion. Furthermore, the fans agreed that the fight could have been better. Nevertheless, the bout did a pretty good job of ending the prelims and paving the path for the main cards to commence.
