He recently made a four-word tweet to convey the same and got an instant response from another fighter coming from a loss. However, there’s a catch. Poirier tweeted, “I want to fight” and a UFC welterweight fighter coming off a well-fought loss made himself available.

Gilbert ‘Durninho’ Burns offered to fight ‘The Diamond’ but only on one condition. Burns wrote, “170? 👀,” asking Poirier to move up a weight class from 155lbs to 170lbs.

Burns recently fought top UFC welterweight prospect Khamzat Chimaev and lost the fight via unanimous decision. The fans and experts praised him for an enthralling performance but failed to impress the judges. Burns fell to #4 in the UFC rankings.
Poirier has never fought at welterweight before but expressed a desire to do so in order to fight Nate Diaz a few months ago. Poirier defeated former UFC double champ, Conor McGregor, twice in 2021. The second fight ended in Poirier’s favor as McGregor broke his leg and could not continue.

Dustin Poirier hints at a Nate Diaz fight
The former interim lightweight champion has been on the lookout for a fight ever since he recovered from that ‘Charles Do Bronx’ loss. Along the same lines, ‘The Diamond’ recently gave a sly hint at his next fight.
While appearing on Teddy Atlas’s podcast, Poirier revealed who he might face in the Octagon next. Nate Diaz is another hungry fighter who is desperate for a comeback. Diaz himself has been repeatedly tweeting to the UFC about completing the last fight on his comeback.
“Look I don’t owe these guys nothing, and I am not biting my tongue, it is Nate Diaz, just like he got on Twitter, I am not gonna say what card, I am not going to say what date or whatever, but he got on Twitter talking, everybody is a tough, and this guy fights and I am a fan of him, but everybody is a tough guy on the internet.”

The two were all set to face off at UFC 230 back in 2018. However, the fight couldn’t go through as Poirier had to pull out due to an injury. After that, there were again speculations of the two fighting in early 2022. But according to Nate Diaz, the UFC pulled the plug on it.

This might be the perfect fight for both the fighters. Diaz is on his last fight under his current contract and wants to finish it up as soon as possible. He is planning to do something big and feels this current contract is coming in the way.
