Michael Jai White and his recent appearances on the DjVlad interviews have turned many heads. Following his recent comments on ‘America getting dumb’, it seems that whenever White makes a comment – fans are in splits, with debates sparking all over social media. This time was no different. White made a ‘sad’ remark on the bad blood between Will Smith and Chris Rock post their Oscars 2022 slap tragedy.

In a recent interview with VLAD TV, Vlad started off by speaking to Michael Jai White about stand-up comedy. The discussion quickly moved on to the ‘slap’ that made the 2022 Oscars famous. In this interview, the American actor shared his thoughts on ‘Selective Outrage’ – Chris Rock’s $40 million Netflix special, in the aftermath of Will Smith’s slap. He also admitted that he is “not a huge Chris Rock fan”, though he disapproves of Smith being a “bully” at the Oscars. When asked if he watched Rock’s Netflix comedy special, White affirmed saying, “Yeah, I did, I did watch the Chris Rock Special. I think everybody watched it for the last part…”

The interviewer agreed with the actor, “Everybody watched it for that last part. Yes, for that last part – where he called Will and Jada ‘b**ches’. Yeah, and so forth…”

White further said, “I am not a huge Chris Rock fan. I watched it, you know. I mean – strategically, I think they know what they were doing…”

Vlad pointed out that Rock received a “huge bag of money” for the special. The involved controversy aided it in becoming Netflix’s biggest comedy special. White was taken aback by what he had just heard. He retorted back, saying, “That’s sad!”

Vlad explained why Rock’s special outdid Dave Chappelle’s – well because everyone wanted to hear Rock’s ‘take on the slap’. White voiced his frustration, emphasizing that, in his opinion, Rock’s comedy specials were pale compared to Dave Chappelle’s work, whom he considers a far superior stand-up comedian.

This is not the first time when the veteran has given his opinions on the tragedy. Back in July 2022, White starred in one of VladTV’s most famous interview clips where he gave his two cents on the incident. Calling out Smith as a ‘bully’ for his actions, he remarked, “It hurt me to the soul…”

He also stated how he likes to keep himself away from situations that feel like bullying to him. He made it evident that he was unhappy to see Chris Rock get slapped and humiliated like that.
