BJJ star Gordon Ryan was dealing with a serious health scare a few weeks ago. The 27-year-old contracted a strep-throat infection that took a heavy toll on his body. The severity of the infection left his physique a shell of its former self, raising concerns from fans. Since he started recovering, Ryan began to look more like his former self. As his muscle mass returned, so did the steroid accusations. Now, in a typical Gordon Ryan move, the five-time ADCC world champion has taken a dig at his critics with another social media post.

Gordon Ryan is arguably the most successful BJJ practitioner out there today. What’s more, his physical transformation over the years has been nothing short of astounding. ‘King’ Ryan has one of the most shredded-looking figures among elite BJJ practitioners. In a sport where PED use is allegedly running rampant, Ryan is outspoken about the subject. This has earned him more haters than fans, questioning if his success is the result of PEDs rather than skills. The case was not different for his latest social media update.

When Gordon Ryan lost his muscle mass due to the strep throat infection, his condition looked so woeful that many suggested he retire from BJJ. During the course of the infection, he needed a tonsillectomy, and later the doctors recovered a fungal mass in his small intestine. All these contributed to the BJJ star losing a considerable amount of muscle mass.

Ryan’s latest post shows him back in almost all of his former glory. In the caption to the post he wrote, “I see the tears from here”, with a kiss emoji- clearly a provocative message for his haters.
