We all know Jiri Prochazka and his admiration for Japanese culture, since he supposedly lives the life of a Samurai. The former UFC champion recently flew over to Japan, taking part in their culture for Rizin, a promotion where he used to fight before his advent into the UFC. However, fans found it amusing after witnessing what Prochazka did at the event, which took place in Tokyo.

‘The Czech Samurai’ appears to have been invited as the guest for Rizin’s Tokyo event. He even got to hang out with UFC legend and former heavyweight champion Mark Coleman in the land of the rising sun. The Hall of Fame legend even shared a video of him working out with the former 205lbs king, and as Coleman said on Instagram, he was “Having a blast.” However, things were about to get pretty strange.

Before the Rizin event started, a special opening ceremony got underway. As the camera panned towards the entrance area, where fans in attendance and viewers watching at home saw the start of a brief performance, Jiri Prochazka made an unexpected cameo. The most interesting part about his whole bit was his costume, as he was wearing a mawashi in a way that sumo wrestlers wear and banging a traditional Japanese drum.

Perplexed fans share hilarious reactions to Jiri Prochazka’s Rizin appearance

Well, first of all, fans were really appreciative of Jiri Prochazka about one thing. They do not seem to believe that a different UFC fighter would have worn the kind of costume that the Czech national did during his performance, beating the traditional drums. On that note, one fan claimed that this was “something only jiri could do.” On the other hand, some fans still weren’t able to comprehend the whole situation, wondering, “What is my goat doing?”

Well, Jiri Prochazka is perhaps one of the best fighters to have ever fought under the Rizin FF banner since the promotion’s inception in 2015. And given that he’s quite popular among fans, one of them commented, “Unlimited Aura Jiri,” on X. But it didn’t stop there because some fans also seemed pretty excited after witnessing the former champion in a mawashi. “Diaper Jiri is a vibe.” However, they weren’t done having fun with it.

Jiri Prochazka in a mawashi—cultural appreciation or just another wild side quest?

Have an interesting take?

We all know how different fighters have different rituals before a fight. From Clay Guida slapping his face to Jan Blachowicz touching a rope, there are a lot of them. As such, the fans believe that it’s time for Jiri Prochazka to adopt the brief routine he performed at Rizin’s Tokyo event as his new pre-fight ritual. “My pre fights ceremony,” said one fan, while another claimed that the ex-champ’s cameo in Japan was just “FUN AND GAMES.” On the other hand, Rizin has really risen to become a regional MMA powerhouse since its inception, and some fans are hoping that it exceeds the reputation PRIDE FC built in the past in Japan. “Wish rizin was big like pride was,” a fan added in that regard.

Well, we never know what Jiri Prochazka is going to do next. Meanwhile, let us know your thoughts about the ex-champ’s supposed “side quest” in the comments down below.
