The UFC 288 provided fans with some enthralling action even after the end of its main event. After the UFC Bantamweight champ, Aljamain Sterling’s successful title defense against Henry Cejudo, his next challenger, Sean O’Malley, was also brought into the octagon. Things got really heated up with ‘Sugar’s’ arrival in the ring. Sterling looked absolutely eager for the bout as he shouted out “September”, revealing the expected timeline of their bout. But, in his recent post-UFC Vegas 73 interview, the UFC boss, Dana White, revealed that things had changed drastically since then.

White’s words revealed that it was primarily Sterling who was presenting excuses in proceeding with the fight currently. The 53-year-old head honcho didn’t look happy about Sterling’s volatility regarding this fight. White also revealed that Sterling’s previous opponent, Cejudo, had called him up to inform him about Sterling’s current distaste towards the bout. Post White’s revelation, ‘Funk Master’s’ next opponent, O’Malley, took to Twitter using this opportunity to mock his rival.

Many in the UFC community accuse ‘Sugar’ of having the ‘Dana White privilege’. In such situations, O’Malley going off on Sterling after Dana White’s untoward revelation was quite understandable.

‘The 28-year-old’ took to his Twitter and derided his rival Sterling for trying to avoid the bout even after his big-mouthed words. O’Malley’s tweet read, “Aljo “august is to soon, how about July”“. Apparently, ‘Sugar’ took a dig at the gap between Sterling’s words and actions.

However, looking at the prolonged beef between the two, it was evident that Sterling would be coming up with a reply. It took some time for ‘Funk Master to notice his rival’s tweet fired at him. He came up with a befitting reply after an hour and 40 mins of his rival’s stinging tweet.

‘Aljo’ chose to mock O’Malley about the period when he continuously refused a Bantamweight title shot despite opportunities being presented to him. The ‘Funk Master’s’ tweet read, “Shane “I ain’t bout that life, give me more time” O’Malley”.

The Sterling-O’Malley beef has been going on for quite some time now. Fans have also seen enough of talking and tweeting. Hence, some might agree that it’s high time for the two to settle it all inside the Octagon.

Dana White revealed that the fight was still on

The UFC boss’ reaction to the reporter’s question about this topic revealed a lot. Initially, he didn’t want to talk about it but he finally opened up and revealed his annoyance at this issue stating, “Do you want to explain what’s going on the head of fu**ing Aljo”

The frustration of the UFC boss was also justified in this regard. ‘Sugar’ and ‘Funk Master’ were elected as the main eventers of UFC 292 scheduled for 20 August this year. But, Sterling’s negligence regarding the bout at this stage might end up in a cancellation of the fight. It only meant even more headaches for the UFC supremo.

Neglecting, ‘Aljo’s’ excuses, White ended this topic by stating, “The fight is on. The fight is absolutely positively on”. It only meant that the fight won’t be abandoned till ‘Funk Master’ provides a concrete statement that he doesn’t want to be in it now.
