Chael Sonnen has earned a reputation for his controversial opinions and trash talks. Recently, Sonnen decided to lash out at Joe Rogan‘s best buddy, Bert Kreischer, for addressing Elon Musk over the ‘blue tick’ controversy going around. Elon Musk became the CEO of Twitter in 2022, and recently he decided to bring some changes to the global social media platform. He removed the blue checkmark from the Twitter handles of celebrities. The blue tick mark gives verified status to celebrities’ social media handles. This helps fans to recognize the original account of their favorite celebrities easily.

Musk removed the blue tick from most of the celebrities’ accounts; however, he left some, even though they had not paid any amount. One such celebrity was Rogan’s buddy, Kreischer. Kreischer is an American solo comedian who has appeared in Rogan’s podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, multiple times. ‘The Machine’ chose to take a jibe at Musk for his recent actions and this provoked Sonnen.

Twitter removed the verified status from the accounts of many celebrities, including MMA fighters. Some of the MMA fighters who lost their verified status chose to speak up against Musk’s actions. While some gave a harsh response to the Twitter CEO, some laughed it off. When it comes to Rogan’s buddy, the case is quite different. Twitter didn’t remove his verified status even without paying a single penny. Kreischer tweeted, “How am I still verified for free @elonmusk

In response to the comedian’s tweet, the retired UFC star, Sonnen wrote, “How about all these quasi-celebrities who feel the need to TWEET that they have a blue checkmark, but did not pay for it. Their goal to act confused, while actually bragging and hinting Elon personally did something for them is very transparent and equally as annoying as they are.”

"Like many, my journey into the beautiful game began by watching the mesmerizing Lionel Messi, as his impeccable vision on the pitch and role as a playmaker, meticulously calculating the path to goal always amazed me. This fascination with the finer details of soccer strategy naturally extended to my interest in content strategy. However, my zeal for being a soccer content analyst is not only because of Messi's magic, as I am a keen follower of the Becks as well. While in David Beckham, it was a special affinity for his mastery of crosses, passes, and set pieces, in Victoria Beckham, the fashion queen, I find inspiration in how she masterfully navigated the world of aesthetics and brand identity. This unique blend of admiration for both the tactical intricacies of soccer and the world of fashion and entertainment helps me to cover the game from angles that seamlessly balance sport and entertainment. Before joining EssentiallySports, I worked as a content analyst as well. A Master's degree in English and Comparative Literature from a premiere institute has helped me hone my writing skills and given me a unique perspective on the world of sports. Interestingly, besides soccer, I also extensively covered UFC, especially the Joe Rogan podcast. In my free time, I enjoy reading and keeping up with the latest developments in the world of sports.
