The UFC boss shared on the ‘Action Junkeez’ podcast that he had got only about ten and a half years of his life left. Since then, White’s health has improved considerably. But not many know about the person behind Dana White’s transformation.

How Dana White found he only had a decade left on the clock

The man to thank for Dana’s progress is Gary Brecka, co-founder of 10X Health Systems. During his ‘Action Junkeez’ podcast appearance, the UFC supremo himself revealed how 10X Health Systems could take your blood and your DNA and tell you when you’re going to die. It was through this test that Brecka got to know about the “cataclysmic results” of White’s health.

Speaking to Steven Bartlett on his podcast ‘The Diary of a CEO’ a few months back, Brecka also revealed, “Triglycerides are a measure of blood fat and shouldn’t be over 149 – two or three hundred is a ‘cataclysmic level,’ but his[White’s] was 768”. Most fans will get an idea why the UFC boss previously had only 10.5 years to live from this statement.

After knowing about the severe condition of White’s health, Brecka immediately informed him about their ten-week weight loss and dietary modification plan. The results from following the plan were revealed by the UFC supremo himself on the ‘Action Junkeez’ podcast.

White stated that he did everything he said, to the letter. He lost 30 pounds. Further, he couldn’t tie his shoes due to his legs being “f**ked up 13 weeks ago”. He said, “I couldn’t bend over to tie my shoes, because my legs were fucked up. I could barely walk some days”. But, he also stated that he faced no such problems anymore.”

White was very appreciative of Brecka’s contribution toward restoring him to healthy conditions.

White also revealed how Brecka’s recommended health plan had also resulted in better sleep. His sleep had been poor for nearly a decade. He said, “sleep apnea, snoring; I had these doctors that I went to for 10 years”. But to the UFC boss’s disappointment, none of them could cure his issues.

Moving on, the UFC boss also revealed that Brecka had given him a “C-Pap machine that a 400 lb fu**ing guy uses”. It is an apparatus used to supply some extra oxygen to the body, which facilitates better sleep.

Brecka has also detailed the developments in White’s health in his ‘The Diary of a CEO’ podcast appearance. He revealed the following improvements in White’s health:

  • In 10 weeks, lost 28 to 30 pounds and he’s over 40 pounds [down] now.
  • He is no longer pre-diabetic, he has normal triglycerides, and his kidney and liver function improved
  • He’s almost tripled life expectancy – just under 30 years.

Quite expectedly, a number of UFC fans might also be thanking Brecka apart from the boss himself. They would definitely want White to hold the position of the UFC President for as long as he can.

The coveted scrap between Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson in 2002 was when I realized the passion for combat sports within my family. My interest in combat sports began watching scripted pro wrestling shows. It was my father who directed me towards combat sports and it wasn’t until the late 2010s that I discovered the world of MMA and the UFC. Like many of you, I too, tuned in for the infamous Nurmagomedov vs. McGregor bout live on October 6, 2018. Being an ardent fan of the UFC (and Dustin ‘The Diamond’ Poirier), I was always looking to have conversations about the same with others. But to my disappointment, I hardly found any followers of the sports to interact with. So I took it upon myself to do my part in popularizing the thrill and the agony behind the purest form of unarmed combat. At EssentiallySports, I try to bring the readers closer to the athletes and focus my coverage on exploring the human side of these martial artists. I’m a musician during my time free from reporting MMA. I operate as the lead vocalist of a rock band that aims to make their mark among the audiences with their original alternative-hard rock songs.
