Bradley Martyn is 6’4″ and 260 pounds. This, he thinks, would be enough to defeat one of the greatest mixed martial artists, Demetrious ‘Mighty Mouse’ Johnson, in a grappling match. The fitness influencer gained notoriety among MMA fans after he claimed he could beat ‘DJ’ in a street fight due to the size difference between them.

While the power vs. speed and technique/skill debate has existed as long as combat sports have, most MMA fans think the untrained Martyn stands no chance. Others disagree and agree with Martyn. However, a recent video has shed some light on how their David vs. Goliath contest may go.

In a podcast appearance with comedian and former UFC heavyweight Brendan Schaub, Martyn found it very hard to believe that 5’2″ 130-pound Demetrious Johnson could beat him in a street fight despite the disparity in their skills. After Schaub disagreed, Martyn challenged ‘DJ’ to a grappling match.

The influencer felt his size would give him such a huge advantage that ‘Mighty Mouse’s skill and technique would be negated. Johnson responded, agreeing to the contest, and said that in a grappling match, skills matter a lot more than size.

Bradley Martyn was visiting a gym, where a fan half his size stood with a sign saying “Take Me Down.” The California native wasted no time and jumped on the diminutive fan. Despite their size difference, the fan gave a good showing of himself and looked like he had had prior martial arts training.

After a few seconds of grappling, Martyn was successfully being overpowered by the fan, who stopped Martyn from getting on top, and the two started to wrestle on the ground. If this encounter is any indication, Martyn’s chances against ‘Mighty Mouse’ do not seem very good. However, the bodybuilder seems to have moved on from ‘DJ’ and is looking to fight Logan Paul.

Martyn renews challenge to Logan Paul

Martyn said in a recent episode of his ‘Raw Talk’ podcast with Bryce Hall that he wants to “fight Logan in MMA fight so bad,” as he believes Logan “doesn’t have the killer instinct in him.” This is not the first time Martyn has challenged Logan to fight him. In the run-up to the Jake Paul vs. Nate Diaz boxing match in August last year, Martyn said he hoped Diaz would beat Jake.

Logan Paul, seemingly incensed at the disrespect towards his brother, called the influencer “lame” and challenged him to a spar. Martyn responded, slamming Logan for being a hypocrite and bad brother, suggesting they could spar without any cameras if he really wanted to protect his brother’s honor. The bodybuilder has now renewed his challenge, albeit with cameras this time. The ball is in Logan Paul’s court now.

Hi, I am Kanishk and I am a UFC Writer at EssentiallySports. I love telling the stories of these magnificent fighters and this wildly unpredictable sport that is so frustrating and yet so joyous at the same time. I never really used to watch MMA, thinking it too crude or brutal a sport to deserve respect.
