Chael Sonnen is a household name among UFC fans. Sonnen has captured the attention of the MMA community with his controversial opinions on certain issues. Many eyeballs were turned towards The American Gangster’ when he was accused of attacking a couple in a hotel back in December 2021 in Las Vegas. Fortunately, the retired UFC fighter was not arrested back then; however, Sonnen had to face several legal complications regarding the incident as he was accused of striking many.

The victims filed a lawsuit against ‘The Bad Guy’ and accused him of 10 misdemeanor counts of battery. One more case was filed against Sonnen for trying to strangle yet another person who was involved in the crime scene. Later, an employee of the hotel also went forward to file a lawsuit against the retired UFC star. Things got really bad for Sonnen as he had to face legal complications. After one and a half years since the incident, ‘The American Gangster’ feels relieved as the charges against him have been sorted out and he is free now. Recently, Sonnen went back to the incident and explained what really went wrong.

Chael Sonnen makes a confession

 Chael Sonnen was talking in an interview with ‘The Mac Life’. As soon as the interview began, he detailed what went wrong at the Four Seasons Hotel in Las Vegas. Sonnen said, “There was only nine of them, I don’t know how they thought that would be enough. In all fairness, they must’ve had me mistaken for someone else… They thought nine was enough, I mean come on! They must’ve had me confused for someone else.”

Sonnen finally confessed that the people involved in the incident must have confused him for someone else. ‘The American Gangster’ is currently in a better position as the legal charges against him have finally been cleared after he entered a plea of no contest. However, the 46-year-old was fined $750 by the court.

‘The American Gangster’ is all set to come back

After his retirement from the UFC as a fighter, Sonnen soon found his way back to the promotion as an analyst. However, things took a different turn for ‘The American Gangster’ when he was forced to withdraw from the position after legal suits were filed against him in December 2021.

Now, nearly one and a half years, Sonnen will finally return to the broadcasting team of the UFC. ‘The American Gangster’ will take up the role of an analyst in the post-fight show of UFC 291. Apart from him, UFC fighter Anthony Smith and MMA coach Din Thomas will be present at the show.
