Robert Whittaker drops a huge update on his next fight
On the MMArcade Podcast (EP 16), Whittaker sat down to discuss his next fight. The 25-7-0 fighter is coming off a tantalizing defeat at the hands of Dricus Du Plessis – Israel Adesanya’s infamous rival.
The discussion kicked off with Jonny asking Whittaker about his next opponent. Although ‘The Reaper’ wants to get another fight done by November, there are some complications. In the same vein, he revealed, “…Remember we ruled out Sean Strickland because we thought he was fighting Izzy in September?” But the surprise came just after this revelation.
With a fluke hint, Whittaker remarked, “But that doesn’t look to be happening anymore…I can’t see Sean Strickland jumping Dricus – if they don’t fight in September.” Getting back to his next fight, the 32-year-old made a U-turn on his previous opinion. He added, “So, I’m not going to rule him out of the discussion of the [my] next fight.”

Further, taking his frustrations to Twitter, ‘Tarzan’ aired his grievances about not being granted a title shot at UFC 293. In his candid tweet, Strickland expressed, “I will say it is wild they are having a card like that and don’t have a headline 6 weeks out. Someone at the UFC really dropped the ball on this… I offered. Best I could do.”
