Cody Garbrandt has tried a couple of times to fight against Rani Yahya. However, he wasn’t favored by luck, since the fights fell apart twice in 2022. The fallout disappointed not only the fans but also the beloved UFC color commentator, Joe Rogan. The JRE host previously commented that ‘No Love’ could not be considered to be set up against a real fighter.

Nevertheless, ‘No Love’ stood firm and went ahead after Yahya for another time. In a recent interview with MMA Junkie, Garbrandt revealed that he had tried contacting Sean Shelby for a fight against Yahya. He was undeniably infatuated with Yahya’s grappling and wished to test his own skills against him. However, whether the fight will happen or not lies in the hands of time.

Recently, ‘No Love’ appeared in an interview with MMA Junkie. Although George Gracie and ‘Goze’ talked about a lot of things with the former UFC champion, Gracie couldn’t steer away from asking about Garbrandt’s plans for the future. He asked, “So, what do you see next for you, whether it’s in 2023, or however you want to tackle it?”

Surprisingly, Garbrandt wanted to go against Rani Yahya, even though their previous two fights were scraped off. He confessed that he contacted Shelby. However, it’s not easy to get a response back from the former matchmaker. ‘No Love’ said, “I just texted Sean Shelby yesterday. I’m still, he hasn’t responded back. But, uh, so we’ll have to get on that junkie nation. Hit him up on Twitter and Instagram.”

Moreover, Garbrandt focused on getting Yahya. He was seemingly mesmerized by the fighter’s grappling prowess and desired to test himself out against him. Nevertheless, it all lay in the hands of Ali Abdelaziz and Shelby. He said, “But, you know, whatever Sean Shelby and Ali Abdelaziz wants to do, you know, in the UFC. But, July 8th is what I’m targeted for.”

This comes after Joe Rogan’s comments.

Joe Rogan thinks Garbrandt isn’t a credible fighter

Garbrandt and Trevin Jones were pitted against each other for UFC 285 PPV. Unfortunately, the fight was addressed with more boos from the crowd than cheers. Without a doubt, Rogan was also disappointed at the fight and made a comment about the fighter.
