Jake Shields believes ‘Bud Light’ made an “advertising blunder”

In a recent post on X (Twitter), former UFC fighter Jake Shields mentioned how surprised he was regarding the ‘Bud Light’ controversy. He could not comprehend the fact that Dylan Mulvaney’s partnership with ‘Bud Light’ cost the brand a reported $27 billion. Shields said, “It’s impressive that Dylan Mulvaney single handily cost Bud light 27 billion dollars.”

Furthermore, he also claimed that it was a big mistake on the company’s behalf. Shields believes that this might be the biggest advertising disaster that any brand has faced till now. “This is likely the biggest advertising blunder in history,” said Nate Diaz’s teammate. However, the UFC color commentator and podcast host, Joe Rogan, believes that people have taken things out of proportion.

Joe Rogan still loves ‘Bud Light’

The 55-year-old podcast host and UFC mainstay opined that it is absurd and foolish for people to claim that the brand is the enemy. In a recent episode of his multi-million-dollar podcast, ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’, he happily drank a can of ‘Bud Light’ with his guest, Zach Bryan. He said, “And we’re drinking Bud Lights, ladies and gentlemen. Sorry. There’s nothing wrong with it.”

He further added that people should not deem the brand as the enemy just because one person made a mistake. Interestingly, ‘Bud Light’ was once associated with the UFC before. However, Joe Rogan still enjoyed drinking the beverage. “People are so silly… One person made a really stupid decision, and now everybody’s decided that Bud Light is the enemy,” said the 55-year-old.

It remains to be seen how far the sales will drop. Incidentally, ‘Bud Light’s rival brand, ‘Modelo’ has started outselling them for the last three months. We will have to wait and see how much damage the Anheuser-Busch brand takes since, at this point in time, things aren’t looking too good for ‘Bud Light’.
