Retired UFC legend Chael Sonnen recently mentioned a rumor in the UFC world. The rumor is centered around a potential clash between two talented fighters: Israel Adesanya and Jamahal Hill. At present, both Adesanya and Hill are at the peak of their fighting careers. Adesanya earned the middleweight belt from his longtime rival, Alex Pereira, while Hill is the current light heavyweight champion after he defeated Glover Teixeira at UFC 283. As Sonnen addressed this topic, he carefully analyzed the potential outcome of such a fight. ‘The Last Stylebender’ had made a name for himself as one of the most dynamic fighters in MMA.

‘The American Gangster’ dissected the potential matchup between Adesanya and Hill. He highlighted the possible impact of such a fight. He even warned ‘Izzy’ of things not going his way. Sonnen gave this information soon after Khamzat Chimaev called out Adesanya for a bout in the middleweight division. This has paved the way for obvious confusion over whether Adesanya will stay in the middleweight division or move up to fight Hill.

He added, “That’s gonna be Adesanya versus Hill, but what if it doesn’t go with Izzy’s way? First of what if that rumor is even true? Second of what if it doesn’t go Izzy’s way like the last time he went to 205? Can’t he just come home? Well, if he just comes on back home but there you are with the belt, aren’t we in the same problem?

While Adesanya previously faced Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight belt, the Polish powerhouse overwhelmed ‘Stylebender’ and successfully defended the belt. It’s important to note that the fight between Adesanya and Hill is currently purely a rumor and has not been officially scheduled. Moreover, in a recent interview, Chimaev claimed that Adesanya is the promotion’s cash cow, which is why they don’t want a match-up between him and ‘The Last Stylebender.’ However, the fans need to wait to find out what’s in store for the middleweight champion.

The possibility of a bout between ‘The Last Stylebender’ and ‘Sweet Dreams’

After his impressive win against ‘Poatan’ at UFC 287, Israel Adesanya left no room for ambiguity regarding his intentions to avoid a rematch with his longstanding rival. Instead, Adesanya firmly expressed his decision to patiently await the outcome of the highly anticipated clash between Robert Whittaker and Dricus du Plessis. The bout between Whittaker and du Plessis is scheduled to take place at UFC 290, leaving Adesanya’s next move dependent on the result of this matchup.
