Colby Covington could not get through Leon Edwards at UFC 296 despite claiming it to be an easy fight. He was dominated throughout the five rounds and lost after the judges ruled the decision in favor of ‘Rocky’. He lost yet another title fight. And this is something Covington’s friend-turned-bitter rival, Jorge Masvidal, was looking forward to.

The history between Masvidal and Covington is well documented. They trained together at the American Top Team but later became enemies. And now, neither of them misses the opportunity to insult each other! Even Michael Chandler joined in after Covington’s UFC 296 loss and stated the fighter disappointed Donald Trump.

Following Colby Covington’s loss to Leon Edwards, ‘Gamebred’ took to Instagram and shared a story of a fan who had some mean things to say about the former interim champion. Jorge Masvidal seemed to agree with the fan when he mentioned that ‘Chaos’ cannot back up his trash talk inside the Octagon.

The fan by the username ‘cubanhulkmma‘ wrote, “Dude talks sh*t just to lose every round this b*tch needs to retire.”

Furthermore, the fan also mentioned that Colby Covington deserved to lose the fight. Even though verbal jibes are common in combat sports, he did not favor the MAGA-loving fighter’s trash talk. “Colby had everything what happened to him because he’s a piece of sh*t. I know it’s the fight game and you’re gonna here [hear] insults, but all this dude does is a clown act.”

The fan also mentioned that he thought it was right on Jorge Masvidal’s and Leon Edwards’s part to get angry and lash out at Colby Covington. “Masvidal had every right to punch him at that steakhouse, and Leon Edwards had every right to get mad at Colby. Dude is the biggest coward in UFC.”

The social media user was referring to ‘Gamebred’ attacking Covington in 2022 outside Papi Steak restaurant in Miami. This incident happened shortly after the Masvidal-Covington grudge fight at UFC 272, where the latter won.

However, Colby Covington’s recent loss has brought in criticism from other fighters as well. It is not just Jorge Masvidal who is talking about him.

Michael Chandler says Covington disappointed Donald Trump!

Several UFC fighters slammed Colby Covington after his loss to Leon Edwards. One of those fighters was the 5th-ranked UFC lightweight, Michael Chandler. The 37-year-old recently talked to an MMA outlet and claimed that Covington’s offensive tactics completely got shut down by Edwards. Chandler said, “After three rounds, Colby took 1776 shots to the face. He had zero offense.”

When the reporter asked if Michael Chandler believed that Colby Covington “let down Trump and everyone else,” ‘Iron’ agreed. He said, “100 percent [let down USA and Trump].”

The reporter even asked if Chandler would consider a fight against ‘Chaos’, to which he refused. ‘Iron’ claimed that the former interim champion should be fighting on the prelims after that performance.

Colby Covington may have lost the fight, but he will be in the UFC for the foreseeable future. He mentioned during the post-fight press conference that he signed a new deal with the UFC and even called out Stephen Thompson for his next fight.
