After Months of Tussle for Welterweight Title, Dana White Throws Colby Covington Under the Bus With Latest Update
The UFC president, Dana White, has once again talked about the bout between Colby Covington and Leon Edwards. The matchup between Covington and Edwards was something that was hardly expected by anyone. No one ever thought that the UFC president would shock the MMA community by announcing Colby Covington as the next opponent for UFC welterweight champion Leon Edwards. Covington, who already lost two title shots against Kamaru Usman, became the backup for UFC 286. Soon after the bout, the UFC boss announced the Springfield native as the next title challenger.
This was indeed a shock to MMA fans and fighters who thought that Covington would not get a title shot anytime soon. The majority wanted Belal Muhammad to be the next title challenger because he was on a winning streak. This turn of events resulted in fans getting more interested in the bout between Edwards and Covington. However, the date and venue of the upcoming bout are yet to be decided. Recently, the UFC president, Dana White, talked about the fight. According to White, there is no progress happening in the bout between ‘Rocky’ and ‘Chaos’. This indeed is bad news for Covington.

Thank you, Canada we appreciate you” The response of the boss hints that there is no progress being made regarding the bout between Covington and Edwards. Covington is eagerly waiting for the bout to take place, hence the words of White can be quite disappointing for the UFC welterweight star.

‘Chaos’ give a timeline for their bout
A few weeks ago, Colby Covington came forward to talk about the timeline of his bout against ‘Rocky’. ‘Chaos’ mentioned that the UFC wants the fight to come to fruition sometime in July. However, the welterweight champion was not ready to fight in July. He needed more time to prepare for his fight against Covington.

Later, Covington mentioned that he may fight against the English fighter in August or September. Even though it’s been a year since Covington stepped into the UFC octagon, he is now confident enough to fight anytime. Nonetheless, it is Edwards who needs more time to come back stronger.
