The much-awaited Conor McGregor UFC comeback fight will take place against lightweight veteran Michael Chandler. Many people have shared their predictions for the fight, including bantamweight star Sean O’Malley. He has recently shared his opinion about the outcome of the fight in a recent interview with ‘Helen Yee Sports’.

Sean O’Malley is in the headlines after becoming the number-one contender for Aljamain Sterling‘s bantamweight championship, following the latter’s win at UFC 288. However, he is also following some of the other fights in the promotion and believes that McGregor will make an impactful return.

Sean O’Malley is rooting for Conor McGregor

‘Suga’ has always been a big fan of ‘Notorious’ and mentioned it many times in the past. However, he has no hard feelings for ‘Iron’ Michael Chandler. O’Malley has a lot of respect for the former Bellator champion. He said, “I do like Michael Chandler, but I am a die-hard Conor fan.” But Sean O’Malley is sticking to McGregor. He added, “It would be hard for me to pick against Conor.”

Apart from calling himself a huge Conor McGregor fan, O’Malley didn’t hesitate to spill out his true feelings about the Irishman. He mentioned that McGregor doesn’t seem too focused and serious about his comeback fight. McGregor has lost two consecutive fights. Although he is a big draw, there are chances that a third loss may curtail his chances of fighting for the gold in the future. Sean O’Malley added, “Do I think he’s taking everything as serious as fighting should be taken? Probably not. But could he still go out there and get the job done? Absolutely.”

While most people believe that the Irishman may be taking Chandler lightly, McGregor’s former rival, Nate Diaz, doesn’t feel the same way. During a recent interview, the Stockton native spoke of his respect for McGregor and claimed he understood how to handle his business in and out of the octagon. Diaz also claimed that the former double champion is levels above Michael Chandler.

However, a fight between Chandler and McGregor, despite being in the offing, is yet to be confirmed.

There are no concrete details regarding McGregor’s UFC return

Dana White made an exciting announcement at the beginning of the year about Conor McGregor making his comeback against Michael Chandler after both of them were appointed as the opposing coaches for the 31st season of ‘The Ultimate Fighter’. But the UFC didn’t follow up with any updates after that announcement. People were eager to hear about the date and venue of the fight.

Dana White also shed some light on the situation in an episode of the ‘Pat McAfee Show’. He mentioned how both fighters have fought at the 155 lbs category in their last few fights. But they are still in the process of figuring that out. It has created a lot of doubts among MMA fans and notable personalities. UFC legend Chael Sonnen also weighed in on the situation and warned the UFC that Michael Chandler may start asking questions about the fighter sooner rather than later.
