UFC commentator Joe Rogan made headlines with his move to Texas from California in 2020. The Spotify podcaster uprooted himself from his hometown of two decades to move to Austin, Texas for reasons of his own. Interestingly, several high-profile figures relocated from California to elsewhere in the following years. The latest among them is Hollywood star, Scott Baio.

Several rumors popped up when Rogan relocated from California to Texas. Many people said he was evading the high taxes in the state. However, that was not the case as Rogan clarified later.  “I moved to Texas because I want f***ing freedom,” explained Rogan. He gave up a $2.3 million home in The Golden State and moved to a $14.4 million mansion in the Longhorn State.

Baio’s case for moving out of California is starkly different from that of Rogan’s. The 62-year-old explained his motives during fan interactions on Twitter.

Why is Scott Baio moving out of California?

According to a story from KTLA, actor Scott Baio is leaving California after 45 years. “After 45 years, I’m making my way to finally ‘exit stage right’ from California,” he wrote in a tweet. He added a news article about the homeless encampments in Beverly Hills along with his tweet.

“This brings down property value. Also, no consequences for crime that is rampant, making things higher in price and it’s just not a safe place anymore. #ImFree,” wrote Baio in response to fans asking about his decision.

During an episode of JRE, Rogan said that his friend and comic Ron White who lived there had high praise for Texas. So during the pandemic, Rogan uprooted his family from LA and moved them there.

He added that his children loved it but his wife needed some time to adjust to the new settings. He said, “And when the pandemic hit, we came to look out here and my kids loved it. I was like ‘I’m in’ and my wife reluctantly [agreed] at first but loves it now. I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else. It’s f***ing amazing.”

Another star couple that left California recently was Ryan Reynolds and his wife Blake Lively. What do you think their reason was for leaving?
