Being a referee in the UFC can be a problem. Joe Rogan has seen many refs get crucified for making decisions that may have been right on the money. That’s why his advice to veteran ref Mark Smith was nothing but covered in gold.

That’s right. Smith was recently nominated for the Best Referee of the Year award and while he didn’t win, his experience is still legendary. He has had to make difficult decisions and for that, the internet isn’t always kind. Here’s him sharing Rogan’s wisdom that keeps him going.

Rogan is one of the UFC’s most beloved color commentator. He has witnessed great fights, interviewed legendary fighters, and given some of the wildest recorded reactions on camera. With so much time spent around the cage, of course Rogan knows a lot about it.

That’s why Mark Smith keeps his advice in mind at all times. To know the difference between real critics and those who are just made at you is big. In times as such when internet bullies are raiding Smith’s DMS, he remembers Rogan’s advice.

“I had a talk with Joe Rogan a couple of years ago,” he told the MMA junkie. “And he said keep it simple, he said you know some people are going to give constructive criticism but some people that are going to give silly criticism or idiotic criticism.”

“Just got to stay away from that. Know who you can count on you know? Some good friends in the media some other good officials, coaches, fighters, keep us honest. Just go out there and do a great job every time.” He noted as he signed off away from the interview. This isn’t the first or the last time Rogan is going viral for his interesting remarks.

Rogan and Bo Nickal hit it off

In a recent edition of the Joe Rogan Experience, the podcaster welcomed MMA fighter Bo Nickal. And very interestingly, Nickal revealed that he’d only started MMA training around the year 2021. That left Rogan absolutely speechless as he uttered the words “that’s insane”

And it really is rather amazing. Nickal has climbed great heights ever since he debted recently in the UFC. His striking is immaculate and his technique shows a lot more experience than someone who had just fought a few minutes ago. It’s true, perhaps something interesting was released out in the open.
