Has ‘The Notorious’ abandoned the idea of fighting his fellow TUF 31 coach Michael Chandler? The question has been uppermost in the minds of many MMA fans for a long time now. Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler was announced earlier this year, and everyone expected the fight to materialize till TUF 31 started airing.
However, we can’t even see the Irishman in the USADA testing pool with half the show already over. Recently, the founder of Paradigm Sports (the management company of McGregor) appeared in an interview with MMA Junkie. There, he gave fans a colossal update about whether Chandler is still an opponent for McGregor or not.

Conor McGregor can look for other opponents too!
Toward the end of the conversation, the interviewer asked Audie Attar whether ‘Iron Mike’ is still the opponent for the Irishman. Replying to this, Attar had a shocking opening statement that might leave fans scratching their heads. “He always could look elsewhere”, said Attar. According to him, ‘The Nototrious’ can snub Chandler and go fight another opponent.
But moving forward, the sports management company’s leader also gave fans a slight hope that McGregor is serious about fighting the former Bellator champ. According to him, McGregor is preparing for his comeback and has his eyes set on Chandler. Moreover, he revealed that the Irishman came on the TUF 31’s board, only after accepting ‘Iron Mike’ as an opponent.

“He is preparing at the end of the day, and that’s what the most important thing is. Chandler makes sense but so do others. But Chandler is who he has his eyes set on! We did that show knowing that that matchup was going to be next”, Attar said. But this is not it! McGregor’s close associate also talked about the approximate return date of ‘The Notorious’, and made an unexpected statement.

“We can’t rule out the end of the year. But just in terms of where we are right now, in terms of the date, it’s likely going to be 2024. I think that’s what the UFC has their sights set on”, he confidently said. With the former UFC champ missing the 16th July USADA deadline, fans can’t understand how McGregor can step into the octagon in 2023.
