The Ultimate Fighter season 31 has kept the fans at the edge of their seats. The talks about the probability of Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler going against each other not only as coaches but also as opponents inside the cage has greatly excited the fans. With the airing date for TUF 31 getting closer than ever, Jon Anik invited Chandler for a short talk on ESPN MMA.
The very first question that the UFC commentator asked ‘Iron’ was regarding his coaching experience. Chandler’s reply was indeed a surprise for many. The three-time Bellator lightweight champion declared that he had never coached before TUF 31. On top of that, he also claimed that he was initially scared about it. Thankfully, the filming has come to an end, and he believed that his team performed really well.

Michael Chandler never coached before The Ultimate Fighter
The former Bellator fighter recently made an appearance on ESPN MMA’s Before The Ultimate Fighter. The host, Jon Anik, introduced the coach with great finesse. With ‘Iron’ on a video call, Anik fired the first question about Chandler’s experience with MMA coaching.
Surprisingly, Chandler declared that it was indeed the first time he coached people in mixed martial arts. Although he confirmed that people have asked him about some tips and tricks at the gym, TUF 31 was the very first time he got hands-on experience as a coach.
Chandler said, “Oh man, actually, not much at all. I mean, obviously, as a guy who has been in the sport for 15 years, I am looked at like a, you know, a veteran of the sport. So, when I’m training with guys, I get asked a lot of things, but I’ve never actually been in a coaching role.”
“So, to be honest with you, I was a little bit scared about it. But I think it worked out really well. And I think I found my footing there.”
