Jiri Prochazka has a fresh change in his life after defeating Glover Teixeira at UFC 275. The new light heavyweight champion follows Bushido rule sets in life. Likewise, he follows the Samurai lifestyle as well. Fighting in Japan for such a long time gave him the idea of having a ponytail, just like the Samurai used to have a chonmage.

His hair was the talk of the town ahead of his bouts against ‘The Brazilian Pit Bull‘ and Dominick Reyes prior to that. However, in a recent video, Prochazka can be seen shaving his hair, which he once jokingly said helped him get a Wi-Fi signal.

MMA reporter Ariel Helwani got the instant words from Prochazka about the reason he shaved his hair.

Helwani quoted Prochazka’s response, “I cut my hair because I needed to end one chapter of my life. So now I can start with new energy, new wave. Honestly.”

When asked whether he would have them again, “We will see,” Prochazka said (according to Helwani’s tweet).

Earlier, Prochazka, while speaking to Helwani, suggested how important the ponytail was to him. The veteran MMA reporter even raised a query about the distinct looks of his ponytails in the Reyes fight and in the Teixeira fight.

Prochazka said, “This time [UFC 275] I leave it just my hair. There is no something more [as in Reyes bout], it’s just my hair, so that’s why it’s smaller, but it’s just my hair, and I’m proud; I’m glad for that.”

He also added, “From the start, I wanted to have it like that [like UFC 275].”

Apart from this, Prochazka also discussed the elephant in the room during his UFC 275 performance.

In all the chaos of the ‘Fight of the Year’ contender bout, there was a sneaky activity from Prochazka that could have changed the outcome of the bout. Referee Marc Goddard gave clarification about it after the bout.

Prochazka, speaking to Ariel Helwani, acknowledged his mistake of tapping Teixeira’s head and labeled it as a ‘very dangerous’ strategy. He offered he wanted to make Teixeira work on the ground, hence he was encouraging him by tapping.

“May be, but not in the same… like with the same moves. Not with tap, no tapping,” Prochazka said; When asked, if  he will do it again?
